2014 Resolutions That I Actually Can Keep

I’m sick.

No, not in the head.  Okay, I am that, too, but I’m physically sick.  I think I’m getting better, but since Monday afternoon I’ve shuffled from the couch to the kitchen for meds and then to bed.  All of this down time has given me plenty of time to reflect on the past year (which I didn’t really do) and to think about the new year (which I actually did do!)

Without further ado, I bring you my 2014 Resolutions!

I resolve to:

  • Constantly work on improving myself
  • Continue working on not comparing myself to others
  • Not kill anyone.  Unless it is with kindness.  And if that really works, then my life just got so much better!

NY resolution not to kill

  • Eat more chocolate

NY resolution chocolate

  • Check Facebook, Pinterest and Word Press at least once a day
  • Have a pajama day
  • Pick up the phone and call my friends and not just text them funny pictures I find

  • Cross multiple items off my bucket list
  • Watch the movie The Bucket List
  • Read lots of good books.

NY resolution read good books

So, there you have it! My resolutions for the new year.  Did any of you make resolutions? Do you plan to keep them? 🙂

      • We hit 70 and then have been below freezing for the past two days. Tonight we have a wind shift and will get the gulf blowing in and get up to the 50’s (still freezing to my TX blood) and possibly rain by Thursday. It’s insane. We’ve never been this cold before February!!

      • We’re at 37 right now, it never hit higher than 44 today. I have to heat on now but they’re saying we’ll get back into the 80s this weekend. Gonna suck if I have to the air back on. What a weird weather week, crossing my fingers that I don’t get sick like you’ve been. Hope you’re feeling better.

  1. LOVE all of these! Especially the chocolate. And very especially the not comparing ourselves to others – that is the ULTIMATE in self-destructive human tendencies!

    Happy New Year, m’dear!

  2. I like that it is a do-able list. I especially love the not comparing to others, I do that way too much then get sort of down about things. It’s wasted energy when we all have our own unique gifts. I’m excited to be able to read your posts this year, since I just barely met you at then end of 2013. I’m sorry your starting off your new year sick. Hope you feel better soon.

    • Thanks and thanks! I’m not one to do resolutions, but I felt the need this year, and the not comparing myself to others is something I’ve been working on – and working on! You are right, it’s a waste of energy and it takes away my own joy. I’m getting better at it! 🙂
I’m looking forward to the new year and learning more about you, too!

I love that last image, about books, because I have done that before! If I am really into a book, I don’t want it to end. I get sad when I get into the last chapter and start reading slower 🙂

  4. I dont like to make resolutions, because I like to make my changes when I need to…..I kind of like to buck the system! 🙂 However, I think your list is awesome, and I wish you luck!! Happy New Years!

  5. Very good point about picking up the phone and calling friends instead of just texting funny pictures– that’s a habit I definitely fall into more than I care to admit. These are great resolutions!

    • Thanks Aussa! As funny as they are, I really did put a lot of thought into them! And I’m awful about not picking up the phone and actually calling my friends… It’s so bad that when I call they automatically ask “what’s wrong?” Lol

Oh, these are GREAT! I think you have a great list of very attainable resolutions!
All of the best of the best to you in 2014!

  7. I loved your list with the ecard images, I was cracking up at the “Jim” one! I hope you feel better soon. Planning to get my list posted later also 🙂

  8. Awesome! I wonder if we could do reverse psychology on ourselves and instead make resolutions like, “I’d like to eat more chips, candy, text more, connect less, waste time, lose sleep, etc” and then not keep them, we’d be helping ourselves! Nonsense? haha! I love your resolutions, particularly, “Eat more chocolate” 🙂

  9. …I should add Jim to my resolutions 😀 Loved your chocolate one too! I’m not good with resolutions but I intend to keep trying to have an enjoyable balance of everything: fun and work, me time and family time, exercise and crafts, eating sweets and eating healthy etc. I did decide to start running again after a longer break, did my third run today, and now my heal is telling me to stop again. So the universe must be telling me again not to even try to make any exact promises!

    • Lol! Balance is a good thing, I spent many years working on the work/family balance and even longer accepting that “me time” WAS good for me and helped me be a better person!
I have to start running again, I’m very slow, but have kinda enjoyed it!

    • That’s a good resolution – and there is no way I could handle that one! 🙂
Thanks, I really think I’m on the road to recovery… or I’m already tired of being sick and am convincing myself that the extra snot is a sign of recovery.
That may have been too much information. 🙂
