Get To Know Me

I am a single mother to a 17 year old son, love pizza (which helps since my child now has a job at a local pizza joint!) and tend to go on crafting sprees.  I am a work at home mother and have yet to win the coveted “Mother of the Year” award; however, it hasn’t stopped me from trying!  I have given up my goal of world domination deciding that ruling the world is too much responsibility.  I’d much rather stay close to home and enjoy the life I have been given.  You’ll frequently find me trying new recipes, making homemade gifts and navigating the worlds of friendship and family.  I love spending time with my son, and together we love spending time outdoors, whether on the lake, camping or even just a round of miniature golf; however, living in Texas, we also appreciate the air-conditioned movie theater!

It isn’t always easy managing work and raising my son and regularly I am striving to maintain a balance.  There are often times that my son will do something and I can’t get mad at him – I know right where he got the behavior from!  So, between work, home, my son, family, friends and adventures, I frequently turn around and have to ask myself “Did that just happen?!?”

    (for your info, a Spikey is the term for folk who are part of the clan known to be followers of Uncle Spike 🙂

    I wanted to catch up and say “thank you… I really appreciate your ‘follow’ as I for one, know how many interesting and entertaining blogs are out there.”

    Blogging since June 2013, my aim is to deliver an eclectic offering of posts, from my ‘point n shoot’ attempts at basic photography, to the sharing of my travel adventures over the decades, as well as day to day happenings here on the farm. Oh, plus a few observations, opinions and lighter-hearted stuff thrown in for good measure.

    I normally keep to a couple of posts a day, maybe 3-4 at weekends if I have something special to share. But if you are at a loose end one day, maybe you’ll enjoy trawling through some of my older stuff too. I have added plenty of categories to help in said digging process.

  14. Love this! I’ve been jonesing for Mother of the Year since our fourth child arrived. And my oldest (now 7) will often state, “Mother of the year 2014, Mama,” just when I’ve backed into a fire hydrant or forgotten to pick someone up. It’s only a matter of time for both of us!

  19. Thanks for coming by my blog. One day I hope to write a bit more often, but I’m in school (seminary) at the moment and it gets a little bit around the house (kids!). I like to cook and camp too, so I approve of your hobbies. 😉
