Best Buy Gift Card Giveaway

And the Winner is NancyTex! Mr. T said that your Tweet made him laugh!best buy gc

It’s giveaway time here at Did That Just Happen Blog!  I have a $5 Best Buy gift card that was “free with purchase” that I’ve failed to use the last two times I’ve been back to Best Buy – so I figure it’s a sign that it is time to pass it on! Since I’ve never done this before, the rules and contest will be simple!

The first rule is that I have to be able to mail this to you.

It’s no secret that I’m in love with all of you and the community that has been created in my computer!  Just yesterday, I was talking to Ort of Sorts on WP about clean eating, and I mentioned that she had probably seen on Pinterest that I’ve recently decided to try a homemade pizza (which is a nice way of stating that I flooded my feed with about a dozen different pizza and pizza dough recipes!) and she offered to re-post her homemade pizza dough recipe for me!

Score!  I can’t wait to try this – and I highly recommend you check out her blog! She provides such great food inspiration!

The second rule of the give away is that you have to pick a post of mine and tweet it – and – this is the best part – hashtag it ILoveKate.  Yeah, totally self-centered, I know, but Mr. T and I were in the car trying to come up with a contest, and we decided on Twitter, and then needed a hashtag so that we would be able to go back and find your lovely tweets.  Thus, #ILoveKate was born.  You can go one step further and tweet me @KateandMrT, but it won’t win you any bonus points!

Quo eye shadow

But look what I won!  I opened the mail box this week and I had a package!  I had won this eye shadow kit from My Hole in the Head, and while I’m a make up fiend, it was also the inspiration to host my own giveaway!

I love getting things in the mail, and now I want to share that joy with you!

The third rule is that Mr. T gets to pick the winner.  I know that I would have a hard time being fair and objective because I love you all so much! So, Mr. T will search the hashtag and since he doesn’t know you guys, he’ll pick the winning tweet.

Let’s recap:

  1. I have to be able to send you a letter
  2. Pick a favorite post of mine and tweet it using the #ILoveKate identifier.
  3. Mr. T will pick the winning tweet.
  4. Contest ends August 2nd and a winner will be selected around August 3rd.

You’ll see that there is no limit to the amount of times you can enter – Mr. T will go through every post with the #ILoveKate hashtag and make sure it has a link back to a blog post.

Good luck to you all!

I’m Falling Apart!

I’m not sure what I did, but when I woke up this morning my calf felt a bit “off”, but I suited up and went running anyway! Since I’m finally making progress on the Couch to 5k, I wasn’t about to let a bad nights sleep that resulted in my calf feeling a bit “off” hinder my progress!

I got home, showered and went to work. A few hours later, my calf really hurt. A little bit after that I couldn’t stand it – I had too much to do to not be able to walk. Read that sentence as “I had too much shopping to do”

enough clothes and shoes

Digging through my medicine cabinet I found 1 last heat pack. It was meant for your back or hip, but darned if it didn’t wrap nicely around my calf!

I am sure I looked quite ghetto doing all of my shopping with a massive white wrap around my leg and a slight limp!

I did it anyway!

Well, I did take it off for the Target run – it was coming loose and I wasn’t patient enough to re-wrap it!

I felt the affects – and put it back on to drive back home.

OH – but, guess what I saw in the stores! Yes, I know that they are starting Back-to-school early, but you’ll never believe this:

Christmas display

Christmas!!  Christmas in JULY!!!

Anyway, eventually my shopping was done and I was headed home; however, on the way home I saw a mobile blood drive. And, well, it was time for me to donate again. And it’s the right thing to do. I save three lives each time I donate! And, well, July donations got a coupon for a free pint of ice cream.

I would have donated anyway.  Most likely.  🙂

Carter mobile blood drive

So, I flipped a youie once traffic was clear and headed in. Low and behold, there was no wait! I was meant to be there!

I did all of the qualifications and took my test and got settled in the chair.

About 10 minutes later they were wrapping a bandage around my arm and moving me to a chair on the other side of the van. They could not get into my vein. They got all around it – and they knicked something because I already have a massive bruise forming – but they couldn’t stick me.

Fortunately, it only took about 4 minutes for them to figure it out on the other side and 5 minutes later they were wrapping me up and I was getting my cookies and juice.

Let’s recap:
Big white wrap on my calf.
Big blue bandage on my right arm.
Big blue bandage on my left arm.
Scabs healing on my knuckles (trampoline park was still worth it!)

Yeah… I turned 40 and it looks like I’ve fallen apart!

It’ll Be Fun

I was in the mood for some adventure on Friday.  It had been a really hard and very long week at work, my son had told me how he “Needed His Space” just a few days earlier and well, I was so over it all.

So, I checked my bank balance and then got on-line.

Hello indoor trampoline park! Fun and exercise! #Winning!

I grew up with a trampoline, my sister and I got it for our birthday one year (I think it was birthday, because it was sunny out, and our birthdays are in the summer months, but I could be totally wrong).  And, I think I was under 10 when we got it because I don’t think we had Lee yet.  (Yes, I judge a good portion of my life based on who is around me!)

Anyway…

I grew up on a trampoline – and I. Loved. It!!! It was so much fun, we all had a blast on it.

I haven’t jumped on a trampoline since approximately 1992.

So naturally, it’s a great idea to just dive right back in!

I bought an hours worth of time for me and Mr. T.

And we bounced.

And bounced.

And bounced!

And we played trampoline basketball!  I actually made 95% of my shots!  It’s amazing how accurate you get when you are inches from the hoop!

Then Mr. T goes “Go jump into the foam pit!”

“It’ll be fun!” he says.

So, I did it, because as I posted on Facebook:

Flight deck selfie

A sweaty mom? Yes. A mom that sits on the sideline? Never!

Needless to say – the foam pit is not my friend.  I felt like a beached whale trying to navigate my way back to the ledge, and then ended up having Mr. T come help pull me out because there isn’t a step or anything to help a 40 year old woman get her butt out of a pit filled with weird foam squares!!!

It was not my finest moment.  I was totally drenched in sweat after that!

Still, it was worth it!

We bounced a bit longer and laughed and joked and then decided it was about time to head back.  I knew I’d be feeling it tomorrow, but man, was it fun!

Later than night, I realized my hands were sore.

Yeah, okay, my knuckles are very red, and quite a bit swollen… and I know it was from some of the tricks I was performing while bouncing! And if you look closely, you’ll see that the redness extends all the way to my little pinky finger!

The next day they were still red and swollen, and then you could see where the skin was torn.  It pretty much looked like I had been in a fight!

By Sunday I was starting to worry that I might have fractured my left hand – it was still really sore and swollen over two of the knuckles.  Then I looked over and my right hand was still sore and swollen, so I decided that maybe it wasn’t fractured after all! I just tend to forget how very sensitive my skin is!

It’s three days later and the broken skin is healing, the redness is gone and the swelling is starting to finally subside.

But, you know what?

It was worth it.

I Need My Space

R1-05250-000A_0001

My son had that talk with me this weekend.

“Speaking of our adventures, I think you need to have some without me.”

… (insert deadly silence from me here)…

“I think that I need some space, you know, to hang out with my friends-“

“when have I ever stopped you from hanging with your friends?!?”

“I’m not saying you have, I’m just letting you know that as an example.”

I’m not going to lie, I was blindsided by the conversation, but I was really proud of the way he approached it and the way he handled himself.  He went on to state that he was growing and was ready for some time on his own.

I’m so very proud of the man he’s becoming and feel really good that I’ve raised him to want to spread his wings.

But he’s nuts if he thinks I’m letting him go just yet!

When We Last Spoke…

When we last spoke Mr. T was back from church camp and cheer camp, I was back from my Vegas birthday party trip, had completed my challenge of 40 Random Acts of Kindness before my 40th birthday and discovered I was getting older.

We shall not discuss me getting older.

Since then we’ve been just as busy!

First, there was the fund raiser for the cheerleaders – look at Mr. T striking a pose!

And several of the girls were happy when the Shelby showed up!

Right after that I went to our family birthday party for me and the Twin’s.  Because you can never have too many birthday parties!

The winner of the funniest gift goes to my parents.  They got me a “Cut Glove”

Which, we all know, I need all the help I can get!  (This picture is from several months ago when I sliced my finger open!)

The very next day I left for a four day work conference in San Antonio.  I am fortunate that several of my friends are also colleagues and we have fun – but more importantly, they are almost always up to driving me around carpooling.  At this conference I meet with clients, meet potential clients, and do lots and lots of training.  I try and hit every manufacture and rep group that is there and learn about the new equipment and get refreshers on the existing.  I did manage to get in some socializing time, as well.  🙂

Look! A car on a car!

No flash, but one of the work parties was a Guns N Roses theme.  In case you were wondering, I’m not dressed up! I’m just naturally that rockin’! 01bb6ac18eb130be2d3ed73053c3a0a7771b7e8aa9

I even had to duck when I ordered a glass of water – she had the soda gun aimed right at me!  I begged and pleaded, and she spared me! I made it home safely and had one day to catch up at work and home and then jumped right into the Annual 4th of July Family Reunion!  This event is hosted by my parents every year, for over 25 years now, and it while it takes some time and effort to get the house and yard ready and the food prepped and cooked, it is so worth it!  We had so much fun!  And a really good turn out!

We broke in a new pool float!

So, that was my last two weeks!  And for everyone who invited me to participate in an event or blog hop, I hope you will forgive me for turning your invitation down – there was no way I was fitting any more on my plate last month!  But, we had So. Much. Fun!  I’ll trade the lack of sleep for all of the memories made!
