I Got a Smile

I got a smile today!!

The guy lives in a different state.

Okay, I totally appreciate the sentiment, but I’m not moving to another state! Do I contact him back? Is there a point to it?  Cause just in case you didn’t know, I’m not moving!!!

While I was on the site I went ahead and looked at my “matches”.  I’m learning how to navigate the site and I made a point to look at everyone that the site said I should, plus everyone that fit my requirements.

I wasn’t brave enough to send out a smile to anyone else… I’m guessing that with online dating my thinking that “the man should make the first move” is antiquated, yes?

But, now, every man I looked at will be able to see that I looked at their profile – and then hopefully they will look at mine and tomorrow I’ll have some action!

Well, not that kinda action…

What Have I Done?

Okay so if nothing else, I have blog fodder for the next 30 days because I have officially lost my mind.

I signed up for

I’ve filled out my profile – and I’m not going to lie, but my little “About Me” essay was pretty much a copy/paste from my “Getting to Know Me” page.  I worked really hard on that blurb! And, I couldn’t come up with anything else! But, please feel free to let me know what else I can add and/or improve upon!

I added a few pictures.

I forgot how uncomfortable I look in pictures.

It took all of 3 minutes before I got my first message!

I was actually tempted to respond.

I took a personality test.

My color is “Blue”.

Blues Are

Analytical Committed
Compassionate Dedicated
Deliberate Dependable
Emotional Loyal
Nurturing Seek Quality
Respectful Sincere
Thoughtful Well-Mannered

Dependable.  Loyal.  Well-Mannered.

Apparently I’m a dog.

This does not bode well for my love life.

But I think it will provide excellent grist for the blog! Can’t wait to update you guys!

She said what?!

My friend Erica has written an entire post laughing at me! And, well, she’s pretty much spot on! Go check it out and see what my life has become! 🙂

“I hosted the Cheer Booster Club meeting tonight. It lasted 2 hours. My life has become weird.”

I’ve been threatening to write a post about this for some time, but this facebook post this morning was the final straw.

A reminder to us all…never.say.never!

Now I don’t remember her exact words, but it was something like this… “I’m so glad I’ll never have to do the girl stuff, periods, drama, clothes, hair, cheerleading…boys are so much easier.”

Did you catch that??  Cheerleading!!!!

Yep… one of the things she thought she’d never have to experience and now…

She’s a CHEER MOM!!!!!!!  HAHAHAHAHA  I’m dying!  Literally dying laughing on a daily basis as she describes the life of a cheer Mom (and don’t even ask her about the $53 cheer backpack!) .  Talk about forcing her out of her bubble!  AND Miss antisocial holds a position on the booster club now too!…

Happy Easter 2014

Hi everyone!  I can see that you all have been up to no good, and I’m pretty impressed with that!

Friday I was off work, but due to the bad weather Texas has this winter, Mr. T had school.  As much as I missed him, it was so nice to have the house to myself and I cleaned!  I cleaned everything!

And it felt GOOD!

We’ve been so busy lately that my regular cleaning schedule fell by the wayside and it really did feel good to catch up and make my house sparkle!

I went and grabbed some take out for my dinner, because Mr. T wasn’t coming home.  I don’t get near enough random nights alone, but Friday Mr. T stayed after school for a basketball game, in the official capacity of School Mascot minus the suit.  I’m still not sure what he did at the game, but he had fun! After the game the cheerleaders had a lock-in at the school.

Yes, my son spent the night with a dozen girls.

I picked him up at 7 am Saturday morning and ran him back home to shower and help me load the car.  We had 8 am rehearsal at church for the Easter performance, and then we went out to breakfast and then headed into town for the Youth Group Car Wash fundraiser and spent the rest of the day washing and vacuuming cars to raise money for youth camp.

Wonderful group of kids!  And the adults aren’t that bad either!

After spending all day there, we headed to Grammy and Papa’s house – they have hired Mr. T to do their yard for the summer, and he’s just about as excited as they come!  He’s wanted a job for almost a year now, and he is devastated that no one will hire a 15 year old! But, his grandparents have come through and he’ll be working hard for his paycheck!

Once that was done, we hung out for a bit, mainly because we were too tired to even get back in the car, but also because my sister and her kids were over!

Eventually Mr. T and I made it home and went to bed early.  Because we were up even earlier the next day to attend the Sunrise Service at our church.  Afterwards there was a potluck breakfast for all of us early risers… I cheated and stopped and bought donuts for the table.  And they were good! 🙂

Here is a shot I got of Mr. T.  It’s not very good, but I was at the back of the room up in the sound room balcony.  My part was just voice work, and even then I was totally nervous – but Mr. T, he was spectacular, as usual!

Eventually we made it back home and my dad was generous enough to swing by and pick up the towels we had borrowed for the car wash that I finished folding that afternoon.

Of course, I had made them a loaf of homemade artisan bread as a thank-you, but I’m sure that didn’t have anything to do with it! 🙂

And now, I need a weekend to recover from my weekend!

What I’ve Learned in 25 Days

Thanks for putting up with me and the 25 Songs in 25 Days Challenge.  I had a blast putting those posts together and sharing a bit of my life with you.  And I really hope that I have some Meatloaf converts out there!

The Challenge did help me out because life was really busy and it helped to not have the pressure of coming up with original material! 🙂 I also learned a few things along the way – so…

During this Challenge I learned:

  1. I should read things all the way through.  I tend to skim.  About half way through the challenge I realized that it must have been created by a teenager!  I still really enjoyed it!
  2. It is not as easy to come up with the sound track for my life as I expected it to be.  In fact, some days it was down right difficult if not impossible!
  3. Posting every day did not get my blog any extra views.   This was good to find out because a) I have wondered and b) blogging every day is NUTS!  Seriously, there is no way my life is interesting enough to do that and no way do I have time to do it!
  4. I meant number 3 in a good way – I am glad to have those of you that post daily as it works for you and it keeps me entertained!
  5. I fell more in love with the blogosphere during this challenge.  It never dawned on me that anyone else would participate, would want to participate – would want to play along with me, and by the end there were like 8 people all linking up.  And everyone was so awesome to cross promote each other!  I felt a real sense of community with you guys – you just filled my heart to overflowing!
  6. There is no such thing as “too much Meatloaf”.  Ever.
  7. Just like all of your blogs are different, so are your tastes in music!
  8. I learned that sometimes you have to go check your own blog and find out what you are doing! I typed ahead most of the days (Okay, all of the days) and sometimes by your comments I could tell what song was up – but sometimes I had to go find out for myself and take a look at my own blog.
  9. I have a pretty cool blog to read!  I know this because #8.
  10. You people are the coolest ever!  I learned a lot about you guys during this challenge, when you played along and when you commented.  I learned that you guys are awesome, and so supportive!  I learned that I am so very lucky to have wonderful people that I get to interact with, that I am very blessed to have such a great community standing with me and that we all are pretty much the most awesome people out there!

I also learned that I have a connection with you guys, stronger than I expected.  I loved this challenge, and I will miss it, but I’m also looking forward to the regularly scheduled programming and filling you guys in on what has kept me busy.  Except for the night I ate 8 cookies.  You all know about that already.  I think someone needs to create that award: Congratulations Betty Sue, please accept this “You are 8 cookies awesome!” award. (No, I don’t even know what that means!!!)

And, now I leave you with one more song.  Some days this is my theme song!

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 25

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 25  A song you could listen to over and over and never get tired of.

I had fun searching You Tube for a version to share with you, and I got to listen to several different variations before I finally decided that simple was what fit – and how I always hear the song in my head!  I’ve found it a shame that a lot of churches are moving away from traditional hymns in favor of contemporary music.  There is just something timeless about the messages written in the hymn book.

Guy Penrod, Count Your Blessings

I love this song and feel really good that this is the song that wraps up the 25 Day Challenge!  Thanks to everyone who has stuck with me until the very end!  This challenge was so much more work than I expected, and I did learn a lesson.  I learned that I am not the blogger that writes a post every single day!

And now go check out these lovely peeps who have stuck through to the end!

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 24

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 24 – A song you have danced to with your best friend.

Surprise, Surprise – Meatloaf is up to bat again! But, one of my favorite memories is with my BFF and swaying along to this song.

The opening is different… just go with it! 🙂

On another note – isn’t the snap shot for this video just a bit scary?!?

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 23

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 23 – A song you can’t stand to listen to.

This one was easy, even today in the car this song came on and I tried listening to it and then I made a snarky comment and changed the channel.  Mr. T laughed and goes “That song just really pokes a button of yours, doesn’t it?”

Yes, yes it does.

Now, let me tell you why!!

Baby, why don’t you grab a couple of glasses and a bottle of wine, walk down the hall and turn down the lights.  Baby while you’re at it, you might as well let down your hair.

And I can take it from there.

Ya think?  You think after you have had her do all of the hard work that you can take over?  She got the glasses and wine, and she carried them down the hall while turning off all of the lights.  The, she probably set it all up, opened the wine to breathe, and then took down her hair for you – and you get to just swagger in and take over?

I don’t think so.

Now go check out these people that don’t irritate me! 🙂

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 22

25 Songs in 25 Days – Day 22 – A song someone has sung to you.

I will never, ever forget this!  I was in grade school, and the phone rang, it was for me.  Now, this was before wireless, before cordless, and you had to stand in the kitchen where your entire family could see and hear you… and a voice came over the line:

I was so embarrassed and touched at the same time!  A boy called me!  A boy called and serenaded me!

I wonder what ever happened to that boy?

You don’t have to wonder what song anyone else has picked, go check them out!
