Me: I’m just so over everything. Let’s move.
T: Move where?
Me: Jamaica.
T: No
Me: Well, where do you want to move to?
T: Alaska
Me: Alaska is boring. There is nothing to do.
T: We can hunt moose
Me: I think they are a protected species, we can’t hunt moose.
T: Did I say we were doing it legally?!?
Yup, that’s my kid!
I finally got the picture back from Senior Night, when I got the privilege of walking Mr. T across the field. It was pretty awesome!
You will never have this day with your children again. Tomorrow, they’ll be a little older than they were today. This day is a gift. Breath and notice. Smell and touch them; study their faces and little feet and pay attention. Relish the charms of the present. Enjoy today, mama. It will be over before you know. -Jen Hatmaker.
I agree with T. You should move to Alaska. It’s beautiful there! My favorite place of all time. I’d move there in a heart beat, if I could talk my family into it. 🙂 A person would have to be the outdoor type to enjoy it though. Oh and that picture is frame worthy. Very nice!
Thank you! And Alaska does look beautiful but I can’t handle the cold!! I hope to visit one day tho!
Aweee 😛
Love the picture!! You both look fantastic!!!
I had a good laugh at your conversation – what a crack up!! Xxx
LOL, thanks! It was one of those that cracked me up it was so random and odd and funny!
Love the convo, and LOVED the photo even more. What a great post!
Thank you Lisa!! 🙂
“…~Because every little ting is gonna be alright…”
Love me some Jamaica and love me some Bob Marley.
I’ve never been, but I think I would really love it! 🙂
It’s pretty awesome, Kate. Negril, Ocho Rios, Montego Bay, Runaway Bay… I love them all.
I love how your outfit matches his uniform! I like conversations like that with my stepkids, when they just spontaneously surprise me with a funny comment that only they could think of 🙂
I can’t tell you the angst I had over my outfit! Lol.
The picture brought tears to my eyes. I love your “bottom line” approach to the whole Alaska thing – it’s “boring” and you can’t hunt Moose (legally) – then why bother? 🙂
Lol, I’m bad at being very dismissive! I can make most decisions in a heartbeat – right up until you put a menu in front of me, and then I can’t make a single decisive remark!!
You can move to Finland, befriend someone with land and join their hunting team and then hunt the moose quite legally here. Simple. We may even help you out with connecting with the right people… 🙂
Score! 😀
Lovely photo of you and T! And hey, you guys can always move to England! 😉
Hey now, yes we could! I would have to buy a drafty old castle though… 🙂 I wouldn’t be able to resist!
You won’t find much drafty old castles for sale here in England, but there are loads in Scotland! 😉 However if you’ll settle for 400 year old quirky cottages, I’m sure we’ll be able to find one for you here. In fact, I know of one not far from our little village! 😀😀😀
hehehehehehehe. You and your house drama… it cracks me up and breaks my heart at the same time! If I end up moving and y’all haven’t sold your house yet, I promise to buy it from you!
Oh god! Drama indeed… With the way things are moving (or not), chances are, if you do come, we’ll still be in the market and yes, you’re welcome to it! xx
Alaska does sound a bit extreme. Jamaica? …… now you’re talking. 🙂 Great photo of the two of you. Kate.
Thank you ever so much! And I think I could adapt to a Jamaican lifestyle 🙂
Alaska . . . ACK!
Now, Jamaica, mon . . . dat’s de ting!
That’s what I was thinking! 🙂
What an incredible moment Kate! You SHINE!!
Thank you Val!! It was a moment I won’t ever forget! 🙂
As long as there are palm trees and beaches. Last time I checked Alaska was lacking in those things.
I totally agree!! And a minimalist lifestyle really is more geared towards less clothes!!
You look so happy an proud out there at midfield.
I can’t imagine how much you will miss him when he goes off to college.
I’m so very proud of him and all he is doing, and I’m currently staying too busy to think about it!! 🙂 LOL
Alaska isn’t boring…. if you know what to do. Don’t ask me, I haven’t figured it out yet but believe me, people find all sorts of things to do here!
Moose aren’t protected, so yeah, you can hunt them (in season) 🙂 Jamaica might be fun for a couple weeks but then what? It’s kind of like Alaska; you can’t just get in your car and take a three-day-weekend road trip to Yellowstone or Maine (haha) or somewhere!
Alaska is on my list of places to visit one day, it really does look so beautiful, but if I was running away, I’m totally running to a warmer area!! 🙂
That is an awesome photo! Your conversation made me laugh. Why doesn’t he want to move to Jamaica?
I have a weird kid. I’m thinking tiki hut on the beach and there is no telling what he is thinking!! LOL!
What a great photo!
Thank you!! 🙂
Thank you for making me laugh! Thank you for bringing tears to my eyes. Thank you for reminding me to take each day (I’ve been doing this so much more) as it comes and live it as fully as possible!
Thank you for this awesome comment!! I’m doing my best to stay in the now, which actually, has really staved off any anxiety I might feel over him leaving for college. Right now, it’s all okay, so I don’t have to worry… and that has been pretty amazing!
