World’s Fastest Courtship

I’m navigating the waters of the on-line dating pool. It’s been a few weeks now and I’ve perfected the art of  my Invisibility Cloak – and how to pop that sucker on and off in a heartbeat!

What I’m not doing is getting  frustrated at the messages – they are supposed to be a good thing! They aren’t driving me nuts at all!

*Insert eye roll*

Okay, you know they are driving me crazy, but they aren’t supposed to! I am supposed to be happy that they have reached out to get to know me – I mean – that’s the entire point!!!

Except this guy, I think this guy missed the “getting to know you memo”:

On-line dating at Did That Just Happen Blog

He went from “Hi” to “Let’s go out” in about 3.5 seconds! It was quite amazing and I have to wonder what his success rate is!

Because I’m me, I did mention that none of his profile was filled out, so that was another reason I was hesitant, a message with a blank profile is usually a fishing expedition and I’m not fond of that bait.

To which he replied:

Have you even answered any questions on here?

Okay Mr. ‘Tude, I got your number!  I explained that I answered a ton of them, because it helps the algorithm out, and the more I answer the better results I get – Like the rest of life you get out what you put in! And since I put in a lot of effort, I was wondering what about my profile he liked  best and what made him decide to contact me?

I figured that was the last of him, please kid, you don’t know who you’re dealing with! You can’t cop an attitude that I can’t beat – I deserve a crown for my attitude some days!  Good OR Bad! 😀 Bad Attitude Crown at Did That Just Happen Blog.jpg

Imagine my surprise when 10 minutes later he replied!  I literally had to set the phone down cause I was laughing so hard – the kid went and read my profile (obviously for the first time) and came back and typed in a part of it back to me and told me that was what he liked about me and that’s why he contacted me.

Yeah, no.  But nice try though!  I’d give him points for the effort he took,  but sadly, there was no amount of points to get him out of the hole he was in!!!

So, mostly I’m being amused – trying not to be frustrated – and… I may have found one, or two, that are worth getting to know!! Stay tuned!!

Running news: I’m  actually looking for a 10k race to sign up for, I’d like to see where I stand.  I’m also adjusting my food. I’ve had to increase my protein and iron (not surprising at all) and I’m playing with fueling for the long runs vs. just going out like normal.  It’s been interesting and challenging, and I may or may not have walked around for a few days with an ice pack tied to my ankle every couple of hours… but you know – I’m a runner – we’re weird like that!

I’m Falling Apart!

I’m not sure what I did, but when I woke up this morning my calf felt a bit “off”, but I suited up and went running anyway! Since I’m finally making progress on the Couch to 5k, I wasn’t about to let a bad nights sleep that resulted in my calf feeling a bit “off” hinder my progress!

I got home, showered and went to work. A few hours later, my calf really hurt. A little bit after that I couldn’t stand it – I had too much to do to not be able to walk. Read that sentence as “I had too much shopping to do”

enough clothes and shoes

Digging through my medicine cabinet I found 1 last heat pack. It was meant for your back or hip, but darned if it didn’t wrap nicely around my calf!

I am sure I looked quite ghetto doing all of my shopping with a massive white wrap around my leg and a slight limp!

I did it anyway!

Well, I did take it off for the Target run – it was coming loose and I wasn’t patient enough to re-wrap it!

I felt the affects – and put it back on to drive back home.

OH – but, guess what I saw in the stores! Yes, I know that they are starting Back-to-school early, but you’ll never believe this:

Christmas display

Christmas!!  Christmas in JULY!!!

Anyway, eventually my shopping was done and I was headed home; however, on the way home I saw a mobile blood drive. And, well, it was time for me to donate again. And it’s the right thing to do. I save three lives each time I donate! And, well, July donations got a coupon for a free pint of ice cream.

I would have donated anyway.  Most likely.  🙂

So, I flipped a youie once traffic was clear and headed in. Low and behold, there was no wait! I was meant to be there!

I did all of the qualifications and took my test and got settled in the chair.

About 10 minutes later they were wrapping a bandage around my arm and moving me to a chair on the other side of the van. They could not get into my vein. They got all around it – and they knicked something because I already have a massive bruise forming – but they couldn’t stick me.

Fortunately, it only took about 4 minutes for them to figure it out on the other side and 5 minutes later they were wrapping me up and I was getting my cookies and juice.

Let’s recap:
Big white wrap on my calf.
Big blue bandage on my right arm.
Big blue bandage on my left arm.
Scabs healing on my knuckles (trampoline park was still worth it!)

Yeah… I turned 40 and it looks like I’ve fallen apart!

The Final Adventures of Baby Blue

It’s been an adventure, and I enjoyed Baby Blue just as much as anyone could enjoy a big blue brace that invaded your life for 12 days due to your own clumsiness.

Anyway…

Baby Blue went out to Diva Dinner with us Tuesday night, and he had a really good time! I think candlelight is flattering for everyone, Blue included!  (Funny enough, it was a live flame, so I’m not as close as it appears because I did worry about setting him on fire!)

It is Spring Break and so he took his nephew, niece and their friend, along with Mr. T out to play and eat.  Yes, it’s hard to see him as the sun was shining… but hey – the Sun. Was. Shining!!!

And then, the end was near.

The time was nigh.

Baby Blue was very brave but for those less than brave, we won’t think any less of you if you quickly scroll past the next picture!

Mom removed my stitches last night.  And as brave as Blue was, I will admit that I did yelp – just once though! And then we all stared at my finger for about 20 seconds waiting for me to step up and be brave enough to actually bend my finger! I did have a plan in place should the cut split back open.  I planned to freak out and tell my parents that it was all their fault.  Yup.  That was my plan!

Fortunately, that plan never needed executing.  And in the words of my dad “Isn’t skin amazing?”

I still have the mark of the cut and the indentations of the stitches, but eventually those, too, will fade!

Thank you all for joining me on this adventure, I actually had a lot of fun and I hope you did, too!

On to the next!
