  1. I really liked these postings. My sister now lives in TX, and your postings have given me some insights into what she can be expecting for her child as he makes his way through the TX school system. The other day, she told me his school was selling school spirit shirts. I said “Oh! Make sure to get me one!” And she replied, “Ok, I will make sure not to get you one that is too blinged out.”

And I was like, “How ‘blinged out’ can it be? It’s a school spirit shirt! Oh, yeah, that is right. You live in TX now. Try and get me something bling-less”.

In LA also, evidently. When my daughter was in school, they had started the popularity of those enormous corsage things. I was shocked when I first saw one. I guess it’s mostly a fund-raiser.

I may be mistaken, but my memory is that the school’s booster club took the orders for those things. I don’t know if they made them or just got a cut from the price paid to the maker, but I’m pretty sure the school appreciated some gain from each one sold. I’ll check with my daughter.

What do you think?
